In the last few years of TAISHO era and beginning few years of SHOWA era, many writers and artists were living in SANNOH and MAGOME area where are quiet living zone now. This area is called "MAGOME writer's village". Main sightseeing spots are illustrated in the next figure.

1 MAGOME Writer's Village

 In the area between OHMORI and NISHIMAGOME station in the above figure, writers such as Hyakuzo KURATA, Yasunari KAWABATA, Shuugoro YAMAMOTO, Yuuzo YAMAMOTO, Youjiro ISHIZAKA, Shiro OZAKI and Saisei MUROO were living there.

2 OHMORI Shellmound

 Dr.Morse, who is American, has found it from train window in Meiji 10th year. On the left of the train from Yokohama to Tokyo, there were accumukated many shells.
 This is the oldest remaines in Japan.

3 SANNOH Sohdoh

 SANNOH Sohdoh is build by Sohou TOKUTOMI and he wrote "Modern national histry of Japan" here.
 It is situated in a corner of Sohou park and a library, which contained 100,000 Japanese nad Chinese books, was attached there.
4 Manpukuji Temple

This is a temple of the Soto Sect. According to the legend, Heizo-kagetoki KAJIWARA has built by an instruction of Yoritomo MINAMOTO in 1192. There are a bronze statue of good horse "Kagesumi" in the left toward the gate of the temple.
Folk Museum
5 Folk Museum

Cultural heritages relating to Oota ward, the history and the folk customs material are collected, exhibited. The special exhibitions etc. are held twice a year(spring and the autumn of every year). Entrance is free.
Tomioka Museum
6 Tomioka Museum

"Tomioka museum" was an old mansion of Mr Shigenori TOMIOKA. Since 1979 it has been open to exhibit art of Oriental pottery, paintings and writings, etc.(about 800 points) to the public.
龍子記念館 7 RYUSHI Museum

 Ryushi KAWABATA(1885〜1966) is Japanese style painter who was active from TAISHO to SHOWA era. He build this memorial building in 1963 by his own design to display and preserve his works in memory his seventieth birthday.
Kumagai Memorial
8 Kumagai Memorial

Old Japanese house of Tsuneko KUMAGAYA for the authority of the woman Japanese Kana writing of the present age, known as a lecturer to the empress. Her work and treasuring goods are exhibited. The special exhibition is also held.

9 HONMONJI Temple

 HONMONJI is head temple of NICHIREN- shu(NICHIREN-sect) and holy priest NICHIREN died here.
 In the cemetry, there are many graves of famous persons such as RIKIDOUSAN(wrestler).
 Five stories pagoda, which is important national cultural asset, is now under reconstruction.
10 IKEGAMI Ume Garden

 This Garden is located west of HONMONJI temple. It is very calm place utilizing slope of the hill and 370 Ume blossoms in Febrary.
