The Hometown Okaharu Association of Tokyo was established in Tokyo in 1997. The association consists of metropolitan residents who were born and had spent their childhood at the former Okaharu-Mura Village, incorporated as Asagiri Chou Town on April 1, 2003 in Kumamoto Prefecture of Kyushu, southernmost of the four main islands in Japan. The number of members is 210 at present.
The principal purposes of this association are to cultivate friendship between the members and to contribute to further economic prosperity of Okaharu through a mutual exchange with them.
